After the dive trip, we visited Hinchinbrook Island off the coast of Queensland and stayed at the resort there.

As we were walking to our room, we saw this echidna rummaging around in the underbrush. Echidnas are a strange cross between porcupines and anteaters.

The next morning we hiked through the rainforest to reach this secluded beach.
On the way back we could see the Brooks Islands in the distance.
Later in the afternoon, we took the ferry out to the islands and went snorkeling. It wasn't quite the same as diving at the Reef, but there was still plenty of cool stuff to see.
The following morning we took one of the kayaks and rowed around the western tip of the island to this stand of mangrove trees.
One of the resort's treehouses had lookout tower next to it (not ours, unfortunately). Here is a view of the beach from the tower.
