Flagstaff area

The first thing we did after checking into our room in Flagstaff was take long, hot showers, using real soap, shampoo and conditioner (much nicer than the all-in-one hair and body wash we'd been using).

The next morning, we visited Walnut Canyon National Monument. We walked down into the canyon to see cliff dwellings built between 1100 and 1250 by the Sinagua people. After lunch, we went to the Museum of Northern Arizona and learned about the many different Native American groups that have lived in Arizona.

The next day, we went to Meteor Crater. It was formed about 50,000 years ago when a meteorite 150 feet in diameter smashed into the ground. The crater is about 500 feet deep and 4000 feet across.

On our way back to Phoenix, we stopped in Sedona for lunch and to see the red rocks. We didn't make it to any of the vortices though.
